SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) is an organic packaging that can be eaten or composted after use - will it replace plastic containers and food wrap? It may be soon! Róża Janusz (Rutkowska), a graduate of the School of Form, received a grant of 30,000 from the Climate KIC Polska accelerator to launch the first eco-friendly packaging based on SCOBY.
SCOBY is a high performing solution which is fast-renewable, 100% free of plastic and home compostable. The organic packaging is formed from biomass with the participation of microorganisms. The project makes people think about cooperation with nature and the benefit from this relationship. Its contributes to decrease pollution caused by mass production of plastic and plastic packaging.
