The U.S.-Poland Business Summit is the continuation of bilateral meetings, which have taken place in Poland, as well as in the U.S., such as the visit of President Donald Trump in Warsaw. The Summit was attended by representatives of American and Polish political leaders. President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as Elizabeth Erin Walsh from the U.S. Commercial Service and other leaders from the Polish-American business community have all confirmed their presence. In total, around 300 people will participate in the Summit.
-With pride we acknowledge the results achieved last year: the record-breaking one in terms of volume of trade done between Poland and the United States. It grew by almost 22 percent. The exports of Polish goods to the United States has recorded an imposing growth of almost 27,9 percent, i.e. 1.34 billion USD - Poland's President Andrzej Duda, stressed at the Summit.
-This Summit is an important opportunity for the leadership of both countries and our business communities to recognize the success of our economic relationship to date, discuss how to solve challenges and set a course for a still higher level of trade and investment between the United States and Poland. The goal of our meeting is to ensure that our two countries - working in the context of the EU and NATO - continue in their efforts to ensure opportunity for our citizens, security for our countries and prosperity for our societies - Tony Housh, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland, pointed out.
-I have often said that our commercial and economic relationship is one of the cornerstones to the U.S.-Poland bilateral relationship, as we have a shared history of success that even dates prior to the United States becoming a country. And I am confident that events like the U.S.-Poland Business Summit show that both U.S. and Polish firms are eager to work even more closely together, that our two governments are committed to supporting increased bilateral trade and investment, and as an outcome, we will continue to see trade grow between our two nations - U.S. Ambassador in Poland, Paul W. Jones, said.
-The Summit is an important and a special event in the field of commercial relations and investments. Our partnership is to an increasing extent including economy, as well as innovation and development of advanced technologies. We hope the U.S.-Poland Business Summit will give impetus to these areas - Minister of Foreign Affairs Jerzy Czaputowicz, admitted.
-The very good condition of the Polish economy is beneficial to Polish-American business relations, which is confirmed by the recent results on trade balance. However, we do not want conformity and that is why we are working on ensuring that the Polish-American relation will enter into a next, deeper phase. Because of this, the U.S.-Polish Business Summit was planned specifically as an opportunity for search of new areas strengthening business and economic relations - Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology Jadwiga Emilewicz, highlighted.
During the summit, the most pressing issues of Polish-U.S. relations were discussed, especially those concerning defense, energy and health sectors as well as the innovative economy. During the event, a new report by the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland was released, concerning American investments in Poland.
-Companies from the U.S. were one of the first, which after the fall of the Iron Curtain, believed in the business potential of Poland. During the last half decade, this has resulted in the completion of investments worth in total more than $30 billion,” Tomasz Pisula, President of the Board of the Polish Investment & Trade Agency, said. “Today, Poland is recognized by American firms of global reach as an attractive place for implementation of projects in the fields of modern flight technologies, IT, finance & banking, as well as research & development. Americans see the growing potential of innovative Polish companies, which signifies the next chapter of business - investment cooperation on the both sides of the Atlantic - he argued.
