Krzysztof Drynda, PAIH's Chairman
Russia's aggression against Ukraine has caused numerous losses both among the population and in the economy. Already today, the cost of the post-war reconstruction of the country is estimated at 750 billion dollars, of which over 110 billion dollars will be needed just for the reconstruction of infrastructure. In June, the Ministry of Development and Technology launched registration for the cooperation program in preparation for the resumption of exports and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, which is operated by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH). In total, over 1.2 thousand Polish companies applied, some interested in exporting, some in investing or cooperating with Ukrainian contractors on a subcontracted basis.
For more than half a year, the Russian aggressor has been consistently and mercilessly destroying Ukrainian homes and infrastructure. Today, we already know that the reconstruction of the country will cost hundreds of million dollars. With our Ukrainian friends we share a mutual understanding of the meaning of their struggle and the need to rebuild the country. I am glad that so many Polish entrepreneurs have responded to our appeal and want to actively participate in this. After the cessation of hostilities, their knowledge and experience will be invaluable - said Minister Waldemar Buda.
After the first two months of recruitment to the program, industry consultations were held with the participation of over 700 Polish entrepreneurs. Mainly from the building sector and manufacturers of machinery and equipment, but also representatives of such industries as IT, food or the medical field. What is Important, the consultations have not ended the registration process, Polish companies can still apply to PAIH.
During recruitment to the program, we learnt what problems Polish companies operating in Ukraine face. Today we will summarize these challenges and together we will think about solutions. As a result of this, after the situation stabilizes, our businesses will be able to fully operate in Ukraine - noted Krzysztof Drynda, Chairman of the Management Board of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
The consultations were accompanied by a forum devoted to government support tools and opportunities to participate in international tenders for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The participants of the event also learned about the barriers to entry to the Ukrainian market and the conditions for the implementation of public contracts in Ukraine.
The event was organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
